That’s all it took for the silence in Matrix’s apartment to learn her name.

This chapter gutted me to write—because love doesn’t turn violent in one moment. It erodes in whispers, habits, and vanished keys. Silver’s world narrows one lock at a time until even her reflection feels like a stranger.

This is where trust curdles into control, where the promise of safety becomes the weapon.

Trigger warning: emotional manipulation, isolation, and the first crack in the illusion of “safe.”
